Pregnancy Care
Prenatal Chiropractor in Gettysburg, PA
Gentle, hands-on care for the low back, hips, and pelvis through every stage of pregnancy - from a chiropractor certified in prenatal care through the ICPA.
By the third trimester, everything has shifted. Your center of gravity has moved forward, your low back is carrying weight it never has before, and the way you sleep, stand, and roll over in bed has all changed. If you are tired of feeling like your body belongs to someone else, you are in the right place. Prenatal chiropractic care is gentle, conservative care that works with the way pregnancy changes your body - not against it.
Dr. Natalie at Wellness From Within Chiropractic is a Doctor of Chiropractic and holds a certification in prenatal chiropractic care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). She graduated salutatorian of her class. Prenatal care is her specialty, and the whole office is set up around it - private rooms, comfortable positioning for every stage, and a doctor who remembers you from visit to visit.
Who prenatal care is for
Expecting moms at any stage
First, second, or third trimester - care is adapted to where you are. Some patients come in early; others start when discomfort does.
Moms carrying discomfort
Low back and pelvic aching, hip pain, sciatica-type pain down the leg, and trouble sleeping comfortably are all common reasons patients come in.
What a prenatal visit looks like here
- 01
We start by listening
You tell us what is bothering you, how your pregnancy is going, and what you want to feel better doing. We take a careful history and review what your OB or midwife has told you.
- 02
A gentle, focused exam
We check how your spine, pelvis, and hips are moving - gently, and with you positioned comfortably for your stage of pregnancy.
- 03
A clear plan in plain language
We explain what we found and what we recommend, in words you understand. No pressure, no long list of visits you do not need.
- 04
Care on your first visit, if it is a good fit
If prenatal chiropractic is right for you, you can receive gentle care that day. Adjustments, soft tissue work, and simple movements are all adapted to pregnancy.
What prenatal care may help with
In careful language: prenatal chiropractic care may help with low back and pelvic discomfort, hip pain, sciatica-type pain down the leg, and general comfort as your body changes through pregnancy. We use gentle spinal and pelvic adjustments, soft tissue work, and simple movements and positions. We do not claim to cure, fix, or prevent any condition, and we do not promise any particular outcome for your delivery.
Call your OB or midwife first for these
Chiropractic is not the right place to start for certain signs in pregnancy. Call your OB or midwife right away, or go to the emergency department, if you have:
- • Vaginal bleeding
- • Fluid leaking or your water breaking
- • Regular contractions before 37 weeks
- • Severe or unusual headache, or sudden swelling
- • Reduced or stopped baby movement
Please tell your OB or midwife that you are seeing a chiropractor. Coordinated care is better for you and your baby.
How this fits with the rest of your care
Many expecting moms combine prenatal care with soft tissue therapy for tight hips and low back, and gentle rehabilitative exercises they can do at home. After baby arrives, care often shifts to postpartum chiropractic care.
Prenatal chiropractic questions, answered
Is prenatal chiropractic care safe?
Prenatal chiropractic care in this office is gentle and adapted to your stage of pregnancy. Dr. Natalie is certified in prenatal chiropractic care through the ICPA. Always keep your OB or midwife in the loop about any care you receive during pregnancy.
When should I start prenatal chiropractic care?
Some patients start early in the first trimester; others come in later as their body changes. There is no single right time. If discomfort is building or you want conservative support through pregnancy, call and we will talk through whether it is a good fit for you.
Do I need a referral from my OB or midwife?
No referral is required, but we encourage you to tell your OB or midwife you are seeing a chiropractor. Coordinated care is better care, and we are happy to work alongside your prenatal provider.
What if I am past my due date?
Chiropractic care does not induce labor. Some patients find gentle care helps them feel more comfortable near the end of pregnancy, but we do not promise or perform anything to start labor. Talk with your OB or midwife about timing.
Can you help with sciatica during pregnancy?
Sciatica-type pain down the leg is common in pregnancy as the pelvis shifts. Gentle adjustments and soft tissue work may help relieve the discomfort. We will also show you simple movements and positions that may help between visits.
What should I wear to my visit?
Comfortable, loose clothing you can move in. You will not need to change into a gown. We position you comfortably for your stage of pregnancy, with pillows and supports as needed.
