Pregnancy Care

Postpartum Chiropractic Care in Gettysburg, PA

Gentle care for the neck, shoulders, and back after birth - for the feeding, the carrying, and the slow, honest return to strength.

You just had a baby. You are lifting a car seat that weighs more than it looks like it should, feeding at all hours, and sleeping in positions you never would have chosen. Somewhere in there your neck got stiff, your upper back started aching, and your core feels like it forgot how to work. That is not in your head - your body did a lot, and it is still doing a lot. Postpartum chiropractic care is gentle, conservative care for the parts that take the strain after birth.

At Wellness From Within Chiropractic in downtown Gettysburg, Dr. Natalie is a Doctor of Chiropractic certified in prenatal chiropractic care through the ICPA. She graduated salutatorian of her class. Postpartum care is a natural extension of the prenatal work she does - same doctor, same private rooms, same steady hand. You do not have to explain your whole story again every visit.

Who postpartum care is for

New parents after birth

Whether it has been weeks or months, if feeding, carrying, and lifting have caught up with your neck, shoulders, or back, this is for you.

Moms easing back into movement

If you want a careful, supported return to walking, exercise, or just feeling strong again, we work with your body - not against it.

What a postpartum visit looks like here

  1. 01

We talk through what has changed

How was the birth? What is aching now? What do you want to get back to? We take a careful history and listen - really listen - before we touch anything.

  2. 02

A gentle exam of the neck, back, and pelvis

We check how your spine, shoulders, and pelvis are moving now that pregnancy is over. Everything is done gently and at your pace.

  3. 03

    A plan in plain language

We explain what we found and what we recommend - adjustments, soft tissue work, simple exercises, or a referral if something needs a different provider.

  4. 04

Care on your first visit, if it is a good fit

If postpartum chiropractic is right for you, you can receive gentle care that day. We adapt everything to how you are healing.

What postpartum care may help with

In careful language: postpartum chiropractic care may help with neck and upper back discomfort from feeding and carrying, low back and pelvic aching, and a gradual return to core strength. We use gentle spinal adjustments, soft tissue work, and simple exercises. We do not claim to cure, fix, or prevent any condition, and we do not promise a specific timeline for recovery.

When this is not the right care

Pelvic floor concerns - leakage, pressure, or pain in the pelvic region - are often best handled by a pelvic floor physical therapist. If that is what is going on, your chiropractor will tell you honestly and point you to the right provider. The same goes for anything that needs your OB, midwife, or another specialist. We will not keep you on the table if you belong somewhere else.

How this fits with the rest of your care

Postpartum care pairs well with soft tissue therapy for tight shoulders and upper back, and rehabilitative exercises for a careful return to core strength. Many patients come to us first through prenatal chiropractic care and continue after baby arrives.

Postpartum chiropractic questions, answered

How soon after birth can I come in?

Many patients come in a few weeks after birth, once they feel ready to leave the house. There is no fixed timeline. If you are unsure, call us and we will talk through whether now is a good time or whether you should wait a bit longer and check in with your OB or midwife first.

Can you help with pain from feeding and holding the baby?

Yes - neck, upper back, and shoulder discomfort from feeding posture and carrying are very common after birth. Gentle adjustments and soft tissue work may help, and we will show you simple positioning changes that can make a real difference.

What about pelvic floor concerns after birth?

Pelvic floor concerns are often best handled by a pelvic floor physical therapist. If that is what is going on, Dr. Natalie will tell you honestly and point you to the right provider. We can still help with the spine and posture while you work with a pelvic floor PT.

Do I need my OB or midwife's okay first?

No referral is required, but we encourage you to keep your OB or midwife in the loop about all care you receive after birth. Coordinated care is better care.

Can you help me get back to exercise?

We can support a gradual, careful return to movement with gentle adjustments, soft tissue work, and simple exercises you can do at home. We do not promise a timeline - your body sets the pace, and we work with it.

I had a cesarean - is chiropractic still an option?

Often yes, with care. We adapt everything to how you are healing. Tell us what your OB or midwife has cleared you for, and we will work within that. If something needs a different provider, we will say so.
