Extremity Adjustments in Gettysburg, PA

Hands-on care for the joints that take the most abuse - shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet - for people who use them hard.

Your shoulder has been aching since that week of overhead work. Your wrist started griping halfway through orchard season. You rolled your ankle on the uneven ground by the barn, and it never quite felt the same. Joints outside the spine - the extremities - take a beating when you work with your hands, and they are a core part of what this office treats. Extremity adjustments are gentle, specific, hands-on work to help those joints move freely again.

Dr. Natalie at Wellness From Within Chiropractic is a Doctor of Chiropractic who graduated salutatorian of her class. She treats extremities and the spine together, because a stiff shoulder often pulls on the neck, and a sore knee often changes how your low back moves. Same downtown Gettysburg office, same private rooms, same doctor every visit.

Weekend athletes

Twisted knees, sore ankles, and stiff shoulders from the trail, the field, or the gym.

What an extremity visit looks like here

  1. 01

We start with how it happened

When did it start, what were you doing, and what makes it better or worse? We take a careful history of the joint and how you use it.

  2. 02

A hands-on exam of the joint

We check how the joint moves, where it is restricted or tender, and how the joints above and below are doing. We also look at the muscles that support it.

  3. 03

A clear plan in plain language

We explain what we found and what we recommend - an adjustment, soft tissue work, simple exercises, or a referral if it needs a different provider.

  4. 04

Care on your first visit, if it is a good fit

If an extremity adjustment is right for you, you can receive care that day. If it is not, we will tell you honestly and point you to the right provider.

What extremity care may help with

In careful language: extremity adjustments may help with shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and foot discomfort, stiffness after repetitive work or a strain, and joints that feel restricted. We do not claim to cure, fix, or prevent any condition. If what we find needs imaging, an orthopedic provider, or a physical therapist, we will say so.

When this is not the right care

A joint that is unstable, a suspected tear or fracture, or pain with significant swelling needs imaging and often an orthopedic provider. If your exam points that way, Dr. Natalie will tell you honestly and point you to the right provider before any adjustment. Some joints also do better with a physical therapist, and we will say so.

How this fits with the rest of your care

Extremity work pairs well with soft tissue therapy for the muscles that support the joint, and rehabilitative exercises to keep it stable. If your trouble is in your neck, mid back, or low back, see our spinal adjustments page.

Extremity adjustment questions, answered

What is an extremity adjustment?

It is a hands-on adjustment to a joint outside the spine - a shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, or foot. The goal is the same as a spinal adjustment: help a restricted joint move freely again.

My shoulder aches from overhead work - can you help?

Often yes. We work on the shoulder joint, the muscles around it, and the upper back that supports it, then add simple exercises to keep it stable. If your shoulder needs an orthopedic provider, we will tell you.

I tweaked my ankle on uneven ground. Can you see me?

Call us. We keep room in the schedule for strains and tweaks that need to be seen sooner. We will check the joint and the muscles that support it and let you know if it needs imaging or a different provider first.

Can you help with wrist pain from gripping tools all day?

Yes. Wrists and elbows take a beating from repetitive gripping and reaching. Extremity adjustments and soft tissue work may help, along with simple changes to how you grip and reach.

Do you adjust knees?

Yes. Knee and ankle aches often come from standing all day, uneven ground, or old strains. We work directly on these joints and the muscles that support them.

What if my joint needs a specialist?

If your exam points to a tear, a fracture, or something that needs an orthopedic provider or imaging, Dr. Natalie will tell you honestly and point you to the right provider before any adjustment.
